If access to the crater opens in July, you will have the chance to summit and enjoy an exhilarating ski descent. Your descent will be via the north face or, depending on the weather and your experience level, through the Voipir West sector. This adventure promises breathtaking views and unforgettable experiences on one of Chile’s most iconic volcanoes.

Prepare for a challenging and rewarding climb as you ascend Volcán Lanín, the highest peak in Araucanía at 3,776 meters. The ascent will take you to a feasible stretch, with a full day of ski mountaineering that includes an elevation gain of 2,000 meters. Alternatively, if conditions and preferences dictate, you may choose to ascend the Quetrupillan Volcano, standing at 2,350 meters. This route offers a summit arrival and a forest crossing in the initial section, with an elevation gain of 1,200 meters. Begin by visiting the eastern town of Curarrehue, where you will explore the traditional rescue warehouse of the local cooperative “Zomo Ngen.” Here, you will learn about their community projects and local products. Next, visit the Mapuche Cultural Center “Trawupeyüm,” a small museum where you will gain insights into the history, tales, and daily life artifacts of the Mapuche people.
