This beautiful Central American nation has gone through some very sad and difficult moments of history but in more recent times it is turning into one of the safest places in the area to travel to. The cities of colonial origin are charming and the people incredibly kind. In addition, with its 19 volcanoes (half of which are active), huge areas covered with river forest, and miles of pristine beaches, Nicaragua is a true natural paradise.
