The itinerery

Day 1: Arrival in San Jose

Upon arrival at San Jose airport, you will be transferred to your hotel.

Day 2: Travel to Monteverde and elective tours

Option 1: Cloud Forest Night Tour

Monteverde is renowned for its natural beauty, especially its Cloud Forest, an expansive area between 600 and 1,800 meters above sea level teeming with diverse flora and fauna. This guided night tour offers a unique opportunity to explore the heart of this ecosystem, characterized by virgin and mountainous forests. You’ll traverse well-marked paths, observing colorful species like the quetzal, toucan, bell bird, trogon, golden frog, and more.

Option 2: Sloth Tour

Visit the Sloth Sanctuary, a natural exhibit dedicated to the rescue, conservation, and rehabilitation of sloths in their natural habitat. Led by expert guides, this tour allows you to observe about 20 sloths of two species native to Costa Rica. Learn about sloth behavior, conservation efforts, and the sanctuary’s mission.

Option 3: Coffee, Sugar Cane, and Cocoa Tour

Delve into Costa Rica’s rich cultural heritage with a tour highlighting its famous coffee production. Discover the journey from seed to cup and learn about the cultivation of coffee, sugar cane, and cocoa. Gain insight into their historical and economic significance for the country.

Day 3: Transfer from Monteverde to Arenal Area

Today, we travel to the Arenal area, crossing Arenal Lake and heading towards the imposing Arenal Volcano.

Day 4: Arenal Area 

Option 1: Hanging Bridges Experience

Embark on a guided tour along a system of suspension bridges, offering spectacular views of the flora and fauna from the canopy of ancient trees.

Option 2: Visit to Children’s Eternal Forest

Explore the private reserve known as the Children’s Eternal Forest, situated between Monteverde and Arenal Volcano. This expansive area is home to diverse ecosystems including evergreen, tropical rainforest, and cloud forest. Accompanied by an expert guide, discover its rich biodiversity, including over 3,000 species of plants, 400 species of birds, and numerous mammals.

Day 5: Arenal Area – Tortuguero National Park

Depart from Arenal and journey to Guapiles for breakfast. Continue to the pier on the Atlantic coast and embark on a boat trip to Tortuguero National Park, renowned for its biodiversity and scenic canals.

Day 6: Discovering Fauna and Flora of Tortuguero

Enjoy a guided morning walk through the trails near the resort, followed by a boat excursion through the canals of Tortuguero National Park to observe its unique ecosystem.

Day 7: Return to San Jose

Return to San Jose with a lunch stop in Guapiles.
