Food and socialization

A river seems like a magical thing. A magic, moving, living part of the very earth itself. Rivers are also an integral part of the Emberá lifestyle: it supplies food such as fish and aquatic plants. The Emberá indigenous community carry a strong mission of environmental conservationism and they work hard to provide tours that minimally impact their surrounding environment. During this tour you can take part in their life, hear their oral history and cosmogenic beliefs, which is based on the idea that everything, both animate and inanimate, is imbued with spirit.

The itinerary

Meeting with local driver-guide to start the tour dedicated to the indigenous Emberà community. An adventure that will lead us inside the Chagres National Park, in the heart of the rainforest, going up the Chagres river in a traditional wooden pirogue to discover the secrets of this indigenous culture, in a land that keeps its natural characteristics incredibly intact. You can observe the handicraft of the Embera people; let yourself be carried away over time by their music and dance, bewitched by the shaman who will reveal the virtues and miraculous properties of some plants. You will be able to observe birds, walk in the forest, swim in a natural pool under a splendid fresh water waterfall, have lunch with a delicious river fish served on a tree leaf and accompanied by tropical fruit. In the afternoon, return to Panama City. Estimated arrival at hotel: 2:30 PM
