The itinerary

For the Somoto Canyon tour, we offer three different options based on the length of the route. You can choose from a 5 km short route, a 6 km medium route, or a 9 km long route. Whichever you choose, adventure is guaranteed.

All tours start at 8:00 am near the canyon entrance. Our exploration of the national park combines hiking along established paths with boat trips and tubing to navigate the river and canyon. For river crossings and certain canyon sections, we use large floats on which participants lie down and slide along the calm waters of the Coco River.

Throughout the day, we take breaks to allow you to swim in the river’s crystal-clear waters. For the more adventurous, there are opportunities to dive into the Coco River from jumps as high as 15 meters.

If you opt for the 9 km circuit, we’ll take you to the upper part of the canyon, offering extraordinary panoramic viewpoints. Additionally, with a short detour, we visit a local farm where you can learn traditional skills like milking cows and preparing typical cornmeal tortillas.

Each tour concludes back at the entrance of the canyon.

Note: We also offer a tour option that includes meals and a two-night stay. Check out our Somoto Canyon Tour – Two Nights for more details.
