Base Torres Day Hike
Difficulty: Moderate to challenging
Distance: ~20–22 km round trip
This is the most famous day hike in Torres del Paine. The trail leads to the iconic viewpoint of the Three Towers, rising dramatically above a glacial lake.
The final ascent is steep and rocky, but the reward is one of the most breathtaking views in Patagonia.
Best for: Short stays, active travelers, and sunrise hikers.
French Valley Day Hike
Difficulty: Moderate
Distance: ~15 km
Starting from Paine Grande, this hike takes you into the heart of the Paine Massif. You’ll walk beneath hanging glaciers and sheer granite walls, with constant views of avalanches crashing into the valley.
Best for: Those doing partial W Trek routes or day visitors.
Grey Glacier Trek
Difficulty: Easy to moderate
Distance: Varies
This trek follows the shores of Lago Grey, offering panoramic views of the glacier’s immense ice wall and floating icebergs. It can be combined with a boat navigation or ice hiking excursions.
Best for: Scenic hiking with moderate effort.
Laguna Azul & Mirador Cóndor
Difficulty: Easy to moderate
These shorter hikes offer fantastic views of the Towers from less crowded perspectives. Mirador Cóndor provides a panoramic overlook of the park, while Laguna Azul showcases the towers reflected in calm waters.
Best for: Casual hikers and families.
The W Trek (4–5 Days)
Difficulty: Moderate
Distance: ~80 km
Accommodation: Refugios, campsites, or hotels
The W Trek is the most popular and accessible route in Torres del Paine. Named for the shape it draws on the map, it covers the park’s most famous highlights:
Base of the Towers (Mirador Las Torres)
French Valley (Valle del Francés)
Grey Glacier
The trek usually starts at Lago Grey or Las Torres area and can be done in either direction. Well-marked trails, comfortable refugios, and organized logistics make this trek ideal for hikers who want iconic scenery without extreme remoteness.
Best for: First-time visitors, photographers, and hikers with limited time.
The O Circuit (7–9 Days)
Difficulty: Moderate to challenging
Distance: ~110–130 km
Accommodation: Campsites only (mandatory reservations)
Also known as the Circuito Grande, the O Trek is a full loop around the Paine Massif and includes the entire W Trek plus the remote back side of the park. Highlights include:

This circuit offers a deeper wilderness experience, fewer crowds, and longer hiking days. Weather can be harsh, especially at higher passes.
