Nicaragua: Hidden Shores

Tailor-Made Nicaragua by the Sea Itinerary

Beach travel is often reduced to all-inclusive resorts disconnected from the land and the communities around them. This tailor-made Nicaragua by the Sea itinerary takes a different approach — one rooted in responsibility, local partnership, and meaningful coastal exploration.

Designed for travelers who value depth over mass tourism, the journey reveals a side of Nicaragua few expect: the quiet, turquoise waters of the Caribbean, the untamed energy of the Pacific, and river canyons that carve through the land between the two. It is a private coastal experience shaped by sustainability, cultural proximity, and the unhurried rhythm of the sea.

Why do I love it?

The itinerery

Your journey begins as you arrive in Managua, where you’ll be welcomed and transferred to your hotel to settle in and unwind after the trip.

Depart Managua and travel toward Sébaco (approx. 2 hours). Here we pause for lunch in a traditional comedor, where you can taste the region’s signature dishes. Afterward, continue to Somoto (another 2 hours) and settle into your hotel for the evening.

Experience the beauty of Somoto Canyon, where the Coco River winds through dramatic rock walls. The adventure unfolds on foot, by small boat, and floating gently downstream on large inner tubes. Choose between a short, medium, or long route. Lunch is included.

Explore the charming village of Somoto, known for its traditional rosquillas biscuits and its central church, a hub of local life. Enjoy a relaxed conversation with elders from the community. Continue to the scenic La Bruja Lagoon, then visit a women’s cooperative of the pre-Columbian Chorotega people, experts in crafting pinewood artisanal products.
