Later, the Orchid Garden of Santa Elena welcomes us into a delicate universe of over 450 species. A local expert guides us through these tiny wonders—including the smallest orchid in the world—hiding like jewels in the cloud forest.

We travel to Hacienda Guachipelín, a pioneer in eco-sustainable tourism and a place where the land still feels wild. At the foot of Rincón de la Vieja volcano, the landscape opens into plains stretching all the way to the Pacific.

By mid-afternoon, we walk through the dry tropical forest toward Las Chorreras Waterfalls—two sky-blue pools tucked into a volcanic canyon. It’s the kind of place that invites you to pause, breathe, and simply be. A refreshing dip feels like a gift.

We travel to the port of San Jorge and board the ferry to Ometepe—an island rising from the immense Cocibolca Lake, guarded by two volcanoes. It feels like entering another world.

Upon arrival, the El Ceibo Museum guides us through the island’s ancient past and the country’s history through an impressive collection of artifacts and coins. The afternoon brings a moment of pure calm at Ojo de Agua, a natural spring surrounded by tropical greenery.

In the late afternoon, at Punta Jesús María, the lake draws a thin strip of sand into the water. As the tide rises, the world mirrors itself and the horizon glows pink and orange. Sunset here feels almost sacred.

We return to the mainland and continue on to Granada—one of the most enchanting colonial cities in Central America. Later, a boat carries us across Cocibolca Lake, weaving between its 365 tiny islets born from an ancient eruption. Life unfolds quietly here: monkeys leaping between branches, fishermen tending their nets, birds tracing invisible paths across the sky.

Today begins high above the Apoyo Lagoon at the Catarina viewpoint—a breathtaking panorama of blue crater waters wrapped in green. After lunch in a traditional restaurant, we meet the artisans of San Juan de Oriente, masters of clay whose hands shape stories from earth and fire.
