Panama

Surfing by the Pacific

About this Journey

This itinerary was crafted for a family of five with teenage children, looking to unwind, have fun, and still enjoy a touch of comfort. The Pacific coast of Panama became the perfect stage—a place where everyone could find their rhythm. Some days were shaped by movement: surfing, kayaking, or discovering underwater worlds. Others were made for doing absolutely nothing, just listening to the ocean and letting time slow down. I loved weaving together a journey that balanced different needs—energy and ease, activity and quiet—so each family member could feel at home while discovering something new.

Why do I love it?

The itinerery

Upon your arrival at Panama Airport, you will be greeted and transferred to the hotel.  Spend the rest of the day settling into your accommodations and exploring the charming town at your leisure.

Travel in comfort via private transfer to Playa Venao (approximately 350 km). Check in to a beachfront hotel surrounded by palm trees. Relax and enjoy the serene beach atmosphere.

Spend the days reconnecting with nature and adventure. Surf, kayak, windsurf, or join a yoga session with expert instructors. Enjoy live music performances or relax by an evening bonfire.

Take a private transfer to Santa Catalina (approximately 290 km). Check in at a hotel overlooking the ocean. Santa Catalina, a quiet fishing village, is the perfect base for surfing, jungle walks, and scenic coastal adventures.

Head to Playa Estero for gentle waves ideal for beginners or longboarders. Experienced surfers can challenge themselves at La Punta, renowned for world-class surf breaks.

Departure to Coiba National Park, a UNESCO heritage site since 2005. During the approximately 75-minute boat ride, keep an eye out for dolphins or whales during their migration periods. Our first stop is Isla Granito de Oro for the initial snorkeling activity in its magnificent coral reef. Our instructor-guide (fluent in Spanish and English) will provide detailed directions regarding current directions and tips to protect the environment. Next, we head to Isla Rancheria, also known as Coibita due to its size, for a second snorkeling session to admire the rich marine life. Alternatively, you can relax on its extensive white beach. The tour concludes at the ANAM visitor center, a local environmental authority located on the southern tip of Coiba Island. Enjoy lunch under a private gazebo on the beach, followed by leisure time for swimming, relaxation, or a brief exploration of the surrounding wilderness. Depending on the day and sea conditions, the itinerary may include visits to other smaller islands of the park, such as Canal de Afuera and Isla Coco, to complete the archipelago tour.

Return to Panama City via private transfer. Check in to your hotel and enjoy a free afternoon to explore, or go directly to the airport for your flight.
