Here is a chance for you to visit a volcano that just erupted in 2017. Get frighteningly close to this extremely active crater and its cute lagoon just next to 7540-year-old lava. It’s not uncommon to see dramatic smoke rising from the crater, as well as it is not rare to reach the summit and just not see anything. The top of the volcano is chilly and cloudy, it feels like entering another dimension entirely. You also have to wear a protective helmet to visit a natural wonder due to the activity behind your feet. If it doesn’t scare you, you are one of us and join the tour with no doubt in your mind.

The itinerary

We begin our adventure with the majestic Poas Volcano, located not far from the capital in an area characterized by a cool climate, typical of the mountainous forest of the Central Volcanic Cordillera. After a short walk of about 15 minutes, we enjoy the spectacular view of the main crater, one of the largest in the world. Don’t forget your passport or a copy.

Then, we reach La Paz waterfall gardens, a natural oasis where flora and fauna abound. After lunch we walk the path bordered by tropical flowers and meet hummingbirds, butterflies, snakes, frogs, cats and we  conclude the experience with the front view of incredible waterfalls that come from the nearby Poas volcano.
