Food and socialization

In order to become wise you have to always remember the wisdom of your ancestors and, in this case, forget your name. As soon as you enter the Soloy community, as tradition dictates, you will be given a new Ngäbe name. Don’t miss the chance to spend some time with the Ngäbe indigenous people in the Soloy community. During this tour you will confront yourself with a different way of life, hike to the mystical Kiki waterfalls, listen to their stories and learn about the use of cocoa and other plants for spiritual and medical purposes.

The itinerary

The waterfall is located in the community of Cerro Banco, within the El Kiki forest reserve and it is considered the highest at the national level with an altitude of approximately 112 meters of free fall. When entering the reserve we meet with our indigenous guide and continue driving on a 4×4 vehicle to reach the start of the path. We start hiking for about 2 km to arrive behind the waterfalls, creating an amazing effect. Almost impossible to have this experience in other waterfalls, which gives it a unique feeling of freedom. Above the fall there is an ideal cave to observe the impressive formation of water from inside or swim in the small lake while touching with your hands the different rainbows formed by the water particles and the rays of the sun.

Return to Mro Cafe

The tour continues to discover all secrets of the grandmothers and their ancestral knowledge by invitation to the purification cocoa rite, the imposition of Ngabere name to the guests and the stories linked to therapeutic practices and traditional natural medicine that fill us with knowledge and strengthen our spirit. This experience is suitable for people who have the awareness that there is a different way to live and want to learn ancient customs, legends and myths of the Ngabe indigenous. The typical lunch offered is made with organic vegetables strictly coming from nearby fields to enjoy food without any additives. Available souvenirs to help the community that will become memories of your visit such as a Krä (pocket or suitcase), dresses, beads, hats, multicolored bands for your hair.
