Far away from the busy streets of San Josè and the packed ocean shores, there are curvy mountain roads of Orosi valley, which force travelers to slow their pace. In this tour we invite you to the cultural core of Costa Rica, a place where coffee plantations and ancient churches are still filled with local folks. But it’s not all cows and fields: the Monte Sky Mirador Ecological Park has 3 beautiful waterfalls, viewpoints, and nature all around. Come with us to visit Cartago, Costa Rica’s heart and soul
The itinerery
We pick you up at your hotel in San Josè around 8:00 am and head to the enchanting Monte Sky nature reserve, located in the Orosi valley and focused on the conservation of the local ecosystem. Around 10:00 am we arrive at the Park entrance and we walk approximately a total of 2 km along well-marked trails surrounded by exuberant nature, trees, plants, waterfalls and natural pools. We also reach strategic panoramic points where we stop to admire the entire Orosi valley as well as the Irazú and Turrialba volcanoes.
After the excursion, we take our vehicle back to drive towards the small town of Orosi, a quiet community where life goes by slowly, which boasts the oldest church in Costa Rica. Here you have time to eat in a local restaurant (on your own). We spend the rest of the afternoon enjoying the extraordinary natural panorama.
Around 4 pm we begin our return journey to San Jose, where we arrive approx. at 6 pm.
