The itinerary
At 6 am we leave San José to visit one of the most unique places in Costa Rica. After about 3 hours driving we arrive at the small town of La Fortuna de San Carlos where we make a quick stop to get to know the city center, then we continue reaching the Arenal 1968 Park. This place takes its name by a volcanic eruption occured in 1968 that left a profound environmental footprint in the otherwise untouched forest. We walk along a path formed by solidified lava flows in an environment populated by many wild animals, enjoying the view of Lake Arenal.
At the end of our walk we reach the Baldi hot springs in the middle of the tropical forest. Here we spend the afternoon relaxing (you can have lunch on your own).
Back to San Jose.
