The itinerery

The Cerros de Escazú are a mountain range located in the central corridor of Costa Rica, southwest of San José. It borders the north with the Central Valley and forms, together with the Cedral massif and the Fila de la Candelaria, the northernmost part of the Cordillera de Talamanca, the main mountainous axis of the country.

Today’s walk takes us to Pico Blanco, an extinct volcano standing 2,271 meters above sea level, with an altitude difference of about 1,000 meters.

The adventure unfolds on paths that traverse woods with dense vegetation and towering trees, eventually giving way to open spaces flanked by huge rock formations.

It is an immersion in nature for lovers of walking on trails unknown to mass tourism, featuring rather steep sections.

The temperature is generally hot and humid, but wind cannot be ruled out once you reach the top.

If we are lucky and the sky is clear, the view extends over San José city, the surrounding mountain range, and the Pacific Ocean.
