If Freddy Mercury just wanted to ride his bicycle, who are we to disagree with him? We bring you around Leon, together with our guide Marlon, to know his city, the secrets and the folklore on a biking tour that just goes faster than any other tour in the city and brings you to hidden corners. The list of places that we are going to visit is just too long for this introduction, so join us (or read below and then join us).

The itinerary

We propose an ecological and fun way to discover the hidden gems of León Santiago De Los Caballeros.

Ride a bike around the city, and follow the expert local guide to explore the beauties and the interesting places of this town!

You’ll have some stops during the itinerary to have a short talk about the visited highlights and their history.

The journey begins in Central Park and continues to the baseball stadium (the national sport) and San Felipe Church. After a short conversation about sports and religious activities, we head to the park of San Juan and to the station market, where until the 90’s the train station was located.

Let’s go on and make a stop at two important religious landmarks, El Calvario church, and Guadalupe church, with its churchyard where the local people usually meet.

Then, we go back downtown where other highlights are located: the ruins of the first church of the new city of Leon (after the inhabitants of the original nucleus abandoned it for fear of the eruption of the Momotombo volcano), and we visit the museum of myths and legends illustrating the main Nicaraguan folk legends and the dark page of torture at the time of the Somoza regime.

Don’t forget we are in a historically important neighborhood, in fact, the new Leon was founded exactly in this place, where the families of the Spanish aristocracy settled.

After the Liborio church, we stop in the famous Tope del Indio park, dominated by a monument to the indigenous people that marked the limit of the territory of the famous Sutiaba pre-Columbian tribe.

At this point it is necessary to make a break  in a familiar restaurant  to snack on something typical.

Finally, we complete the historical part by retracing some ancient important events of the history of the city that occurred in this area.
