The itinerary
Day 1: Peñas Blancas Border – Granada – Cocibolca Lake
Meet at Peñas Blancas border post, Nicaraguan side (at Tica Bus/Trans Nica terminal) where we pick you up at 10:00 AM.
We arrive in the colonial city of Granada for hotel accommodation.
In the afternoon (pick-up at 3:00 PM at your hotel), we head to the pier for a boat tour on Lake Cocibolca among the numerous small islands (isletas).
Day 2: Granada – Masaya Volcano – León
Enjoy leisure time to explore the highlights of this beautiful colonial city.
Transfer to Masaya Volcano, one of the seven volcanoes in the world with active lava magma in its crater (pick-up at 4:30 PM at your hotel). We arrive with our transport service to the mouth of the volcano, which illuminates the surrounding area with its light.
Alternatively, you can take the gastronomy tour (2 hours, 30 minutes) starting at 9:20 AM in the main square.
Continue to León, the ancient capital and main cultural center of the country.
Day 3: León – Cerro Negro Volcano
Transfer to the base of Cerro Negro volcano (pick-up at 6:30 AM at your hotel), one of Nicaragua’s seven active volcanoes. The slope of the crater is covered in black pulverized lava, remnants of its last significant eruption in 1999.
Reach the summit in about one hour on foot. Enjoy the extraordinary view over the green valley below and the other volcanoes of the area!
Upon descent, experience the soft volcanic ash beneath your feet or try sandboarding, an easy activity suitable for adults and children.
Free time in the afternoon to explore this majestic colonial city.
Day 4: León – Rivas – Peñas Blancas Border
Departure (pick-up at 6:00 AM at your hotel) for the return journey to the border.
