Near the border between Nicaragua and Honduras is one of the most beautiful places in the country: Somoto Canyon. We offer you the opportunity to get to know it calmly, with full board and overnight stay in a local hotel. This experience allows you to lie on your back and slide over the river Coco by funny tubing, swim in its clear waters, dive off a 15-meter rock, and hike this canyon old as the Earth itself. At night you don’t have to think about anything, just relax.

The itinerary
DAY 1
You can arrive at your leisure, and your hostel or tent will be ready and waiting for you.
DAY 2
After breakfast at 8:30 am, we embark on a 9 km circuit to explore the national park in three different ways. We start by hiking on established paths, then switch to boat trips and tubing to navigate the river and certain parts of the canyon. Tubing involves lying on large floats and sliding along the calm waters of the Coco River. Throughout the day, we take breaks for swimming in the river’s clear waters. For the adventurous, there’s an opportunity to dive from heights of up to 15 meters into the Coco river. We continue our journey to the upper part of the canyon, where stunning panoramic viewpoints await. As a highlight, we make a short detour to visit a local farm, where you can learn how to milk cows and prepare traditional cornmeal tortillas. After the excursion, we return to the hostel or tent for lunch.
You’ll have some spare time in the afternoon to enjoy nature and relax. Dinner is served around 6:30 pm.
If you opt for staying overnight in a tent, you can try your hand at fishing. You’ll cook your catch by the river and enjoy a dinner in true old-west style.

We rise and conclude this adventure with a typical Nicaraguan breakfast.

*Overnight at Cabaña Gabriela/Izacali Hostal/Ceibita Tours/Finca Agroturistica Mejia or similar. Single, double, or triple rooms are available (Please specify your preference, and we will do our best to accommodate you).
We also offer the adventurous option of camping in tents located within the canyon, overlooking the river where the moonlight reflects at night.
