Nicaragua
Cultural tour in Ometepe
Day tour featuring a light hike along the path of the petroglyphs and a visit to the coin and pre-Columbian artifact museum.
The early indigenous people revered the island of Ometepe as their promised land. Maderas was considered the sacred place of the sun, while Concepcion was seen as the sibling of the moon. They emerged from the union of water and fire, lived without a written language, and unknowingly found happiness. Their beliefs centered around the power of nature and the sacred spirits of animals. Join us on a journey through history, from prehistoric rock carvings to ancient artifacts, culminating in the more recent history of Nicaragua through an exhibition of coins.

The itinerary
Pick-up is scheduled between 8:30 am and 9:00 am, depending on your hotel’s location. We will drive approximately 30 minutes to reach the path of the petroglyphs, a sacred site where ancient ceremonies honoring the gods took place. These petroglyphs, etched into both small and large rock formations, provide glimpses into the lives of past civilizations and their spiritual connections.
Around noon, we’ll pause near the picturesque beaches of Santo Domingo for lunch (lunch not included).
Afterward, our tour continues with a visit to one of Nicaragua’s finest museums. Here, we will explore two distinct exhibits: one showcasing a collection of over 2,000 tools and everyday objects used by pre-Columbian populations, and another featuring Nicaraguan coins and banknotes dating back to the era when cocoa beans were used as currency.
Finally, we will return you to your hotel, concluding an insightful and enriching day tour.
