Camping on a Volcano
Experience an incredible two-day adventure hiking Volcano Concepción and spending a night under the stars.
Travel takes us to extraordinary places and turns us into storytellers. Imagine returning home, years later, suddenly remembering that magical tropical night on Ometepe Island. You lie on your back under a tree, gazing at Lake Nicaragua where the stars are reflected in its tranquil waters, feeling blissfully lost in the swirling, starlit sky.
This future memory can come true, thanks to our two-day expedition of Volcano Concepción. It may not be the most comfortable of adventures, but as they say, nothing worthwhile in life comes easy. After all, we only live once, right? Seize the day and embrace YOLO!

The itinerary
Day 1:
We gather at 12 PM at our office near the port of Moyogalpa and proceed to the base of Volcano Concepción, where our excursion into the dry tropics begins at 2:00 PM.
After a 2-hour uphill hike, we reach our base camp at 500 meters above sea level, where we will spend the night.
We’ll enjoy the breathtaking panoramic view of the lake, which transforms with various hues as the sunset unfolds. We’ll light a bonfire to enhance the atmosphere and capture these unique moments in our memories. (Please note: We do not provide food, so please bring your own.)
We’ll spend the night under the stars—literally! We provide hammocks (to be set up between two trees) that you carry during the hike to the base camp. Alternatively, you can choose to bring a tent.
Day 2:
We wake up at 5:00 AM and begin our hike to reach the summit of the volcano, where the active crater awaits. The ascent to “the roof of the world” takes approximately 2 hours. If you prefer not to do this final stretch, you can wait for our return at the base camp.
Around 3:00 PM, we will return to your hotel.
