The itinerery

Day 1: Arrival in Calama and Visit to Valle de la Luna

Upon arriving at Calama’s local airport, you will be greeted by our driver, who will transport you to your hotel, allowing you to settle in and rest. In the afternoon, at 3:00 PM, we will pick you up from your hotel for an unforgettable visit to Valle de la Luna. As you drive to the Cordillera de la Sal, you’ll enter through Vallecito, a lesser-known entrance to the Moon Valley circuit. Here, you’ll walk along ancient miners’ trails, enjoying the breathtaking panoramas and the stunning sunset over the valley’s unique landscape.

Day 2: Hidden Lagoons and Rainbow Valley

Your day begins with a morning tour of the Hidden Lagoons of Baltinache, where you will travel to the valley between the Salt Flats of Atacama and the Domeyko mountain ranges. Immerse yourself in the striking turquoise and emerald colors of the seven hidden lagoons, a natural wonder that promises to leave a lasting impression. In the afternoon, you’ll venture into the heart of the Domeyko Mountain Range to explore the Rainbow Valley, with its magnificent mineral-colored formations. These geological wonders, shaped by wind and time, offer a sensory feast. Your exploration continues with a visit to the ancient Chuschul Pucará, a fortress built by the region’s ancestral inhabitants thousands of years ago, providing a glimpse into the area’s rich history.

Day 3: Trekking and Exploration

Start your morning with a trek through the Vilama River ravines, leading you to hidden waterfalls nestled within the mountains. Here, you can take a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear waters, creating a memorable experience. In the afternoon, delve into the San Pedro River basin as you navigate the intricate passages of the salt mountain range. Discover the striking formations and columns of Devil’s Throat in Catarpe Valley, making this an unmissable adventure filled with exploration and awe-inspiring sights.

Day 4: Journey to Bolivia

In the morning, your Chilean driver will pick you up from your hotel and transport you to the Bolivian border. After crossing, you will meet our Bolivian colleague on the other side. Your Bolivian adventure begins with visits to the White and Green Lagoons, the surreal landscapes of the Salvador Dalí Desert, the soothing Polques Hot Springs, the Mirador Volcán Uturuncu, and the picturesque Río Quetena, allowing you to experience the captivating beauty of Bolivia’s natural wonders.

Day 5: Salt Flats of Uyuni

Depart early in the morning for a journey through the Valley of Rocks, Villa Alota, San Agustin, Julaca, and Puerto Chivica, eventually entering the awe-inspiring Salar de Uyuni, the world’s largest salt flat at an elevation of 3,656 meters (11,995 feet). Explore the rocky outcrop of Inca Huasi Island in the middle of the salt flat. Enjoy a picnic lunch, take stunning photographs, and witness the breathtaking sunset over the salt desert. During the wet season, when the salt flats are covered with water, rubber boots will be provided to enhance your experience.

Day 6: Deserts and Lagoons

Embark on your morning journey to Uyuni, stopping first at the famous train cemetery, where the skeletons of old locomotives offer a haunting yet intriguing sight. Continue your exploration westward to the mines of San Cristobal, the Rocas Valley, and the serene lagoons of Cañapa, Hedionda, Chiarcota, Honda, Ramaditas, and the Siloli Desert. Each location provides a unique perspective on the region’s diverse landscapes and natural beauty.

Day 7: Return to San Pedro

Set out across the Siloli Desert, visiting the surreal Árbol de Piedra, the vibrant Laguna Colorada, the geysers of Sol de Mañana, relaxing hot springs, and the Salvador Dalí Desert. Arrive at the Chilean border by 11:00 AM, Bolivian time. After crossing the border, our Chilean driver will be waiting to transport you back to your hotel in San Pedro, concluding your adventure-filled day.

Day 8: El Tatio Geyser and Flight to Santiago

Your final day begins with a morning visit to El Tatio, a geothermal field in the Andes Mountains located at 4,320 meters (14,170 feet) above sea level. Witness the remarkable geothermal activity of the third-largest geyser field in the world during the peak morning hours. In the afternoon, continue your journey through the scenic landscapes of North Jauna, Machuca, and Putana’s Vegas, before arriving directly at the airport for your afternoon flight to Santiago, bringing your unforgettable journey to a close.
